About

Jake’s House is a charity founded to help children and families dealing with the challenges of autism because autistic children deserve to be children first. Through our Christmas Party, the Jim Gregory Tournament and our soon to launch Legends Program we aim to let children and their families forget the challenges of autism and enjoy a day in a compassionate, fun and welcoming environment.

“The “cure” for autism lies no further away than your family and friends” – The Founder

Jake’s House is a registered charitable organization founded in 2002 by David and Irene Bodanis. Jake, their son, was diagnosed with autism in 1995. As a parent, when you first learn that your child is autistic you slowly come to the devastating realisation that everything you thought would happen as you watch your child grow up has changed. Your first thoughts are, how can I fix it? What can I do? Where I can go for treatment? and you will try to move heaven and earth to find ‘a cure’. Once the truth sinks in, that there is no medical cure, the second truth you’ll realise is that the ‘cure’ for autism lies no further away than your family and friends and their ability to provide the best life they can despite the challenges. That’s why Jake’s House was founded.

We believe that caring and compassion cure any and all of life’s challenges, we simply must continue to try and find where your child’s happiness exists…it is our mission to help you get there…..together. As parents and caregivers of our children, we are tasked to be their voices. That collective voice will be positive and one of inspiration.

Our aim is to help families dealing with the daily challenges of autism keep their families strong and together so they can let their children be children. We founded Jake’s House with the absolute resolve that all children will be welcomed into our family…and because of all of you; we have made Jake’s House…a home.
